Emirates Environmental Group Concludes 24th Cycle Of Student Workshops Focused On Sustainability Education
The Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) recently wrapped up its 24th Cycle of Student Workshops, held virtually from 21st to 23rd October. The sessions, themed "Reevaluating Reality: Discovering Our Sustainable City," attracted 433 students from 71 schools across the UAE. These workshops aimed to enhance students' understanding of sustainability and environmental responsibility.
Participants were divided by age groups over the three days. Junior students aged 10-12 attended on the first day, sub-senior students aged 13-15 on the second, and senior students aged 16-18 on the final day. The EEG team, along with distinguished speakers, guided these sessions.

Mariam Hamal from Hatta Honey was among the speakers, sharing insights on creating Bee Gardens. Her presentation highlighted bees' vital role in ecological balance. She engaged each student group with valuable knowledge throughout the event's duration.
Maya Taher, a Human Behavioral Expert and Mental Well-Being Corporate Trainer, addressed "Mindful Living and Mental Health Awareness." Her session encouraged students to integrate environmental awareness with mental well-being for a sustainable future.
On the last day, Patricia Hakim, Founder of DDD Consultancy Bureau, presented on "Vertical Farming." Her talk explored how innovative agricultural methods can turn urban areas into sustainable food sources, crucial for future city planning.
Students participated in feedback sessions using AI at each day's end. They expressed feeling inspired and gaining new perspectives through engaging activities. Both teachers and students appreciated EEG's meaningful programme.
Empowering Future Leaders
Reflecting on the event's success, Habiba Al Mar’ashi, EEG's Co-Founder and Chairperson, remarked: "This 24th cycle of the Students’ Workshops has been organised to raise awareness about sustainability issues and build the capacity of our student community to address them. I am confident that students have gained valuable insights, formed new connections, and strengthened their ability to work collaboratively through their participation. I urge them to remember that every action we take impacts our environment. I trust they will act responsibly and integrate sustainable practices into their daily lives, which are essential for our nation and the global community."
The workshops underscored EEG's dedication to empowering young leaders in sustainability. By offering practical knowledge and innovative ideas, students were equipped to tackle current environmental challenges effectively.
