Emirates Energy Award 2023: Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum Celebrates Winners For Sustainability Innovations
Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Emirates Energy Award ceremony took place during the 11th World Green Economy Summit. H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum honoured 33 winners at this event, which focused on 'Empowering Carbon Neutrality'. The ceremony was attended by key figures like Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer and Ahmed Buti Al Muhairbi, along with experts in renewable energy.
H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum stated, "The Emirates Energy Award, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, embodies our firm commitment to advancing sustainability and reinforcing the UAE’s leading role as a key partner and active contributor to global efforts to combat climate change and accelerate the transition to clean and renewable energy."

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer highlighted that the award reaffirms UAE's dedication to achieving net zero by 2050. He noted that it showcases innovative solutions supporting a global shift towards sustainable development. The award has gained international recognition as a platform promoting innovation in sustainable energy, aligning with UAE's strategic vision for energy security.
The award ceremony celebrated initiatives that adopt clean energy technologies and promote efficient resource use. It reflects UAE's commitment to strategies like the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050. These aim for 100% clean energy production capacity by 2050. The event also emphasised solar power's role in renewable energy production across the region.
This year, entries came from countries including Türkiye, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Kuwait, Palestine, Algeria, Qatar, Oman, Yemen, France, UK, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Estonia, South Korea, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and the US. The award attracted 250 entries from 24 countries in total.
Ahmed Buti Al Muhairbi expressed satisfaction with honouring 33 winners from diverse backgrounds. He said: "We are pleased to honour 33 winners from a total of 250 entries from 24 countries. The award has become a global initiative for sharing best practices and expertise in energy efficiency." This highlights its role as a hub for showcasing innovative solutions worldwide.
