Emirates Drug Establishment Issues Recall For Hong Thai Herbal Inhaler Due To Microbial Contamination

The Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) has mandated the removal of the "Hong Thai Herbal Inhaler (Yadom)" from UAE markets. This decision follows lab tests revealing microbial contamination in several batches distributed locally. The action aligns with EDE's commitment to public health and patient safety.

Following a warning from Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration about contamination in one batch, EDE initiated testing on all other batches available in the local market. The Quality Control Laboratory's analyses confirmed that microbial contamination levels exceeded international pharmacopeial standards for inhalation products.

EDE stated that such contamination poses potential health risks to users. Consequently, it ordered the withdrawal of all product batches, not just those identified by Thai regulators. This precautionary measure underscores EDE's dedication to safeguarding public health and ensuring pharmaceutical quality in the UAE.
