Emirates Development Bank Introduces Financing Solutions To Support Startups And Entrepreneurs

Emirates Development Bank (EDB) is enhancing the UAE's entrepreneurial landscape with new financing solutions and support for startups and mSMEs. This initiative is part of "The Emirates: Startup Capital of the World" campaign, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The campaign aims to position the UAE as a global leader in entrepreneurship.

The comprehensive programme suite targets Emirati youth ventures, fostering innovation and economic diversification. By accelerating entrepreneurship across all seven emirates, the campaign provides founders with quicker access to financing, digital onboarding tools, mentorship, and accelerator pathways.

EDB 360, the bank's digital platform, allows entrepreneurs to open business accounts swiftly. It also enables them to apply for financing without traditional collateral requirements and connect with ecosystem partners for business launch or scaling support. This platform is pivotal in streamlining processes for entrepreneurs.

Ahmed Mohamed Al Naqbi, CEO of Emirates Development Bank, stated, "Founders do not need inspiration, they need access. This campaign is about removing bottlenecks. Whether it is opening a bank account, securing working capital or finding the right partner to enter the market, we are making the process faster, clearer and more inclusive."

As part of this initiative, EDB will announce AED500 million in financing solutions through credit guarantees, co-lending programmes, and receivables-based support via fintech partners. These financial solutions aim to provide essential capital for startups and mSMEs.

The campaign also includes non-financial enablement programmes for 500 entrepreneurs. Additionally, it offers accelerator access through collaborations with national programmes like AgriX, MIITE, and MBRIF. These initiatives are designed to build entrepreneurial capacity beyond just financial support.

This campaign underscores EDB’s dedication not only as a financier but also as an active supporter of entrepreneurs. It aligns with the UAE’s national vision to become a global startup hub by nurturing businesses from inception to success.
