Emirates And China Cultural Centre Unite To Amplify Tourism Opportunities
Emirates, the renowned airline, has recently inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the China Cultural Centre in the UAE, aiming to boost inbound traffic to China. This strategic partnership was formalised at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai, marking a significant step towards enhancing tourism and business opportunities between the two regions. The MoU was signed by Orhan Abbas, Emirates’ Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations, Far East, and Liu Yang, Director of the China Cultural Centre in the UAE. The ceremony was witnessed by notable figures including H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, alongside Ou Boqian, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Dubai, and Nabil Sultan, Emirates’ Executive Vice President, Passenger Sales and Country Management.
Under this agreement, Emirates will collaborate closely with the China Cultural Centre in the UAE to launch joint advertising campaigns aimed at promoting China across Emirates' extensive global network. Additionally, there are plans to organise familiarisation trips for markets to China. These initiatives are designed to enhance awareness about China’s touristic appeal and foster more business and trade opportunities.

Orhan Abbas expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting China's strategic importance to Emirates. He noted that 2023 marks two decades of Emirates' successful operations in China, a period during which the airline has contributed significantly to China’s economy and local community through long-term partnerships in travel and trade. Abbas reaffirmed Emirates' commitment to investing in this partnership, promising world-class service and seamless travel experiences for customers.
Liu Yang reflected on the significance of this collaboration for the China Cultural Centre in the UAE, especially in light of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the United Arab Emirates. He emphasized the potential for this MoU to enhance tourism promotion between both sides and deepen mutual understanding among their peoples.
Emirates currently operates 35 weekly flights to key Chinese cities including Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shanghai. Through these gateways, travellers enjoy increased connectivity to 24 domestic points within China and six regional points via Guangzhou through Emirates' partnership with China Southern Airline. The airline also enhances air connectivity to China through interline agreements with Air China, China Eastern, and Cathay Pacific.
This collaboration between Emirates and the China Cultural Centre in the UAE is poised to open new avenues for tourism and business exchanges between China and Emirates' global network. It underscores both parties' commitment to promoting cultural exchange and mutual understanding through enhanced travel opportunities.
