Emirates Reports Record Baggage Handling Success With 99.9% Timeliness In 2024
Emirates has reported its busiest year for baggage handling, with a remarkable performance between April 2024 and March 2025. The airline managed over 2.8 million bags monthly, averaging 100,000 daily, across flights from Dubai to 140 destinations worldwide. This represents a 3.7% increase compared to the previous year. Despite the complexity of operations, Emirates maintained a 99.9% success rate in baggage handling from its Dubai hub.
Emirates stands out as the leading airline globally in baggage management. The airline ensures that 99.9% of all luggage originating or transferring through Dubai reaches its destination on time. The mishandling rate at the Dubai hub is notably low, with only 1.4 incidents per 1,000 bags, which is nearly 30 times better than some other airlines.

The Lost and Found department at Emirates is highly efficient, recovering and returning 94% of valuable items within an hour in Dubai. These items are often essential for travellers, such as passports, wallets, and phones. They are found either on Emirates aircraft or at Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport (DXB).
Innovative Tracking Tools
In 2024, Emirates launched the Emirates Bag Connect feature on its app and website. This tool provides customers with detailed tracking of their baggage journey and status updates. Additionally, it includes a feature for tracking mishandled bag deliveries, now available at 80 stations across Emirates' network.
Globally, when delays occur with baggage delivery for Emirates customers, they manage to reunite 91% of delayed bags with their owners within three days. This achievement is significant given that most of their operations involve international transfers requiring meticulous attention compared to domestic travel.
At the Dubai hub, out of the monthly average of 2.8 million bags handled, approximately 2,300 are found without tags. Emirates collaborates with dnata teams to identify owners proactively. On average, they successfully recover and load about 80% of these untagged bags onto flights before departure.
Emirates continues to set high standards in baggage handling efficiency and customer service excellence through innovative solutions and dedicated teamwork across its global network.
