Emirates Resumes Check-In Services For Passengers Departing From DXB
Passengers flying from Dubai with Emirates Airline can now proceed with check-in for their flights, the airline has officially announced. This update comes after a temporary suspension of check-in services at Dubai International Airport (DXB) due to severe weather conditions that persisted for more than 24 hours. The airline emphasises that only travelers with confirmed bookings should head to the airport, which is currently facing congestion issues.
Emirates had to halt its check-in facilities at DXB, following the UAE experiencing its most substantial rainfall in 75 years on Tuesday. The downpour led to widespread flooding, affecting numerous residential areas across Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi. Consequently, the government advised private companies to implement work-from-home policies, and residents were discouraged from using submerged roads.
Emirates conveyed apologies to passengers whose travel plans have been disrupted by the adverse weather and ensuing road conditions. They advised customers affected by flight cancellations to reach out to their booking agent or the Emirates contact centre for rebooking options. Despite the resumption of check-in services, the airline warned of potential delays for both arriving and departing flights due to ongoing operational challenges at DXB.
Travellers are urged to verify their flight statuses on the Emirates website before making their way to the airport. The recovery efforts come in the wake of Emirates extending the suspension of passenger check-in until 9 am on April 18, highlighting the extent of the operational difficulties faced due to the exceptional weather conditions.
The airline’s proactive communication and ongoing efforts to accommodate impacted passengers underline its commitment to customer service during challenging times. As the situation evolves, Emirates continues to update passengers on developments and provides guidance to ensure their travel plans are minimally affected.
