Emirates And Air China Sign MoU To Strengthen Aviation Ties And Expand Networks
Emirates and Air China have agreed to expand their partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement aims to enhance their existing interline cooperation. The MoU was signed during the 81st Annual General Meeting of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and World Air Transport Summit in New Delhi.
Adnan Kazim, Emirates' Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, highlighted the long-standing relationship with Air China. He noted that around 18,000 Emirates customers have benefited from their interline agreement. "Building on this success, we've recently announced the launch of two new Chinese cities—Shenzhen and Hangzhou—which will strengthen our East Asia operations," he stated.

The MoU outlines plans for a reciprocal codeshare on selected routes within each airline's network. This arrangement would allow both airlines to place their codes on each other's flights between China and the UAE, as well as beyond Beijing and Dubai. This expansion aims to offer more travel options for passengers.
To improve customer experience, Emirates and Air China will work on coordinating flight schedules and adjusting minimum connecting times. Once implemented, passengers can expect a seamless booking process with single ticket itineraries. Additionally, travellers will gain wider lounge access at various destinations.
Beyond commercial agreements, both airlines plan to share best practices in areas like revenue management, data analytics, digitalisation, brand management, and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). They aim to achieve this through joint knowledge sharing and familiarisation visits.
Yan Fei, Air China's Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration. "Air China highly values the cooperation with Emirates. The signing of this memorandum is an important milestone for the deepening of the cooperation between the two sides," he remarked.
Starting 30 July, Emirates will operate 49 weekly flights to mainland China. This includes double daily services to Beijing and Shanghai and daily flights to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou. These additions are part of efforts to strengthen connectivity in East Asia.
The collaboration also extends to cargo operations and frequent flyer loyalty programmes. By enhancing these areas, both airlines aim to increase value for travellers and businesses alike.
