Emerge And Turbotim Partner To Develop Solar And Battery Energy Storage Systems In Ras Al Khaimah

Emerge, a collaboration between Masdar and the EDF Group, has partnered with Turbotim, a UAE energy solutions firm. They aim to develop a solar and battery energy storage project at Turbotim's Ras Al Khaimah site. This initiative was announced during the Make it in the Emirates Forum.

The project will incorporate a rooftop solar PV system with a total capacity of 1.52 megawatts peak (MWp) and a 5 megawatt-hour (MWh) battery energy storage system (BESS). It will be executed as two identical hybrid setups, each featuring 763kWp of rooftop solar and 2.5MWh of battery storage.

Emerge will deliver a comprehensive turnkey solution under a 20-year contract. This includes financing, design, procurement, construction, operations, and maintenance. The transition from diesel generators to solar PV electricity generation and BESS will significantly reduce Turbotim's environmental impact.

Currently reliant on diesel generators, Turbotim is set to cut its electricity bills substantially by adopting this new system. The project is expected to prevent over 2.1 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually. This reduction is comparable to the yearly electricity use of 240 households or removing 474 petrol-powered cars from the road.

Emerge's Role in Clean Energy

Emerge was established in 2021 to focus on distributed solar systems, battery storage solutions, off-grid solar projects, and hybrid systems for commercial and industrial clients. The company currently provides clean electricity to over 40 sites across various sectors including commercial, industrial, educational, and hospitality within the GCC region.
