EmaraTax Smart Tax Services App Enhances Quality Of Authority’s Services: FTA
The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has taken a significant step forward in enhancing its service quality by introducing the EmaraTax app, a smart tax service application, launched in October 2023 during the 43rd GITEX GLOBAL. This initiative is part of the FTA's broader strategy to drive digital transformation across its services, aiming to ease voluntary tax compliance and offer proactive services to taxpayers.
Available for download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play, the EmaraTax app has already seen over 4,570 operations conducted through it. The app is designed to provide taxpayers with a comprehensive suite of digital services, enabling them to manage their tax affairs with greater precision, speed, efficiency, and transparency. From VAT and Excise Tax procedures to innovative solutions for accessing the Authority’s services remotely, the app facilitates a wide array of tax-related operations.
In a move to further support taxpayers, the FTA has expanded the app's capabilities by adding 15 new services related to Corporate Tax. These additions are aimed at ensuring a smooth implementation of Corporate Tax and facilitating compliance through straightforward procedures. Services now available include Corporate Tax registration and amendment of registration data, deregistration, account management, and amendment of banking data.
Khalid Ali Al Bustani, FTA Director-General, highlighted the app's role in aligning with the UAE Government's Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme. This programme seeks to enhance efficiency, streamline procedures, and eliminate unnecessary processes. Al Bustani emphasized the FTA's commitment to providing seamless digital services through innovative models that reflect governmental leadership and excellence while enhancing value by saving time, cost, and effort.
"The Authority continuously strives to achieve tangible impact within short timeframes to improve taxpayers’ experiences. The smart app streamlines procedures and integrates with other systems and departments; it was designed according to the latest standards to enable taxpayers to benefit from tax digitisation and expedite procedures," Al Bustani added.
Abdulla Al Bastaki, Executive Director of the Information Technology Sector at the FTA, spoke about the ongoing development plans of the Authority. He mentioned that less than two years ago, the FTA activated the EmaraTax digital tax services platform using advanced technologies. The smart app is part of the Authority’s continuous efforts to update its services in preparation for a more advanced future.
Al Bastaki also highlighted the collaborative efforts in developing the app, aiming to enhance the tax system significantly and achieve the FTA’s strategic goal of leading digital transformation across all its services. The app integrates with modern services provided by other relevant government entities through UAE PASS for all procedures and services offered by the FTA.
"As part of its approach to engaging stakeholders in the ongoing development processes for tax systems, the FTA consulted with taxpayers and stakeholders across the UAE tax system, taking their opinions into account while developing the app," Al Bastaki noted. He affirmed that the FTA always welcomes feedback and opinions from taxpayers as part of its commitment to continuous improvement.
