Dubai Hosts Prestigious 11th Middle East Joint Surgery Congress With Global Experts
The Eleventh International Conference on Joint Surgery in the Middle East (ICJR) commenced today at Emirates Towers, marking a significant milestone as the first event of its kind in the region. The conference has attracted 1,000 surgeons and doctors from across the globe, highlighting its importance as a global gathering for medical professionals. Dr. Ali Al Suwaidi, Head of the Emirates Orthopaedic Division at the Emirates Medical Association, along with the Presidents of the American and Asian Orthopaedic Associations, graced the inauguration ceremony.
Dr. Sameeh Tarabichi, Supreme President of the Conference, emphasized the significance of this event in his opening speech. He noted that it serves as a crucial platform for orthopaedic surgeons, nurses, and medical students from various countries to share insights on modern surgical techniques and developments. The focus of this year's conference is on technological advancements in joint surgery, including joint design innovations, the application of three-dimensional printing, and robotic surgery enhancements.
One of the key highlights mentioned by Dr. Tarabichi is the adaptation of prosthetics to meet the specific needs of Middle Eastern patients. This includes designing knee prosthetics that accommodate cultural practices such as sitting on the floor and praying, underscoring the conference's commitment to personalized medicine.
Dr. Mohamed Moaz Adi, Chairman of the Conference, outlined the event's objectives. He stated that the conference aims to foster a collaborative environment for discussing contemporary developments in orthopaedic disease treatment. With 69 regional and international lecturers delivering 120 lectures across 21 scientific sessions, the conference promises a comprehensive educational experience. Additionally, 35 scientific research presentations and five practical workshops will be conducted, including two unique sessions using human corpses imported from the United States for practical training.
The conference also features video surgical presentations by experts, aiming to innovate orthopaedic education and improve patient health outcomes. This initiative reflects the conference's broader goal of advancing medical knowledge and practice in joint surgery.
