Abu Dhabi Registers Over 10,000 Electric Vehicles And Hybrids By March 2024

The number of electric vehicles (EVs) in Abu Dhabi saw a significant rise of 81% from 2022 to 2023. By the end of March 2024, there were 10,013 EVs and 11,139 hybrid vehicles registered. Abdulla Alhashmi, Acting Director of the Intelligent Transportation Systems Sector at the Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility), shared these figures with the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

Alhashmi highlighted that public charging stations in Abu Dhabi have increased to 313 locations. These are spread across various areas, with plans for further expansion in collaboration with private sector partners. This growth is part of a broader strategy to support sustainable transport solutions.

Abu Dhabi's Electric Vehicle Growth by March 2024

The Integrated Transport Centre is actively participating in the Electric Vehicle Innovation Summit (EVIS) 2025. This event is crucial for the Middle East and North Africa region, gathering experts and innovators worldwide to discuss sustainable mobility and EV advancements.

During the summit, strategic projects aimed at developing an intelligent and eco-friendly transport system are being showcased. These initiatives align with climate neutrality goals and aim to bolster Abu Dhabi’s status as a leader in sustainable transport solutions globally.

Alhashmi emphasised that Abu Dhabi Mobility’s involvement in EVIS reflects its dedication to fostering innovation in electric transport. The emirate aims to enhance global competitiveness by forming strategic partnerships with leading companies to develop advanced solutions for sustainable mobility.

Abu Dhabi's ambition is to become a regional leader in smart and sustainable electric mobility solutions. This goal aligns with the UAE’s Net Zero 2025 Strategy, which focuses on reducing carbon emissions and promoting eco-friendly transportation options.
