Electric And Manual Carts Improve Accessibility For Umrah Performers In The Grand Mosque

In anticipation of Ramadan, the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque has expanded its fleet of electric golf carts to 400. Each cart sports a unified visual identity that embodies the distinct character of the Grand Mosque. This initiative aims to enhance mobility for worshipers during this busy period.

The presidency has also introduced improved manual carts with unique designs to cater to Umrah performers' needs during Ramadan. These carts offer a comfortable and efficient way for worshipers to navigate the mosque, especially during peak times. The availability of various cart types ensures that all visitors can move through the mosque with ease.

Carts Enhance Movement for Umrah Worshippers

Several types of carts are now available at the Grand Mosque. Free manual carts can be found in both the eastern courtyard (Bab al-Salam No. 19) and western courtyard (Al-Shabika Bridge, Gate 64). Paid manual carts are strategically placed at locations such as Gate 14 on the ground path, Gate 16 on the first-floor path, and near Toilet No. 2 in the southern courtyard.

Electric golf carts can be reserved from designated points within the mosque's squares. These include Al-Shabika Bridge (Gate 64), Ajyad Bridge (Gate 4), and Ajyad Stairs from Gate 4 on the first floor. These vehicles are particularly helpful for elderly individuals, people with disabilities, or anyone who may find walking through the mosque challenging.

This service is crucial in managing visitor movement and reducing congestion during Ramadan's crowded season. Notably, electric golf carts are provided free of charge for people with disabilities, ensuring accessibility for all worshipers.

The introduction of these enhanced transportation options reflects a commitment to improving visitor experience at one of Islam's holiest sites. By offering both manual and electric cart services, the presidency aims to facilitate smoother movement within the mosque complex.
