EKTFA Teams Up With Tetra Pak For Eco-Friendly Packaging At Mleiha Dairy
The Sharjah Agricultural and Livestock Production (EKTFA) has awarded a contract for the installation of the Tetra Top packaging line at the Mleiha Dairy Factory. This factory, affiliated with the Department of Agriculture and Livestock, will utilise sustainable and recyclable packaging solutions from Tetra Pak, a leader in food manufacturing and packaging.
A high-level delegation from EKTFA, led by Dr. Eng. Khalifa Musabih Ahmed Al Tunaiji, visited Tetra's main production facility in Lund, Sweden. The delegation explored advanced technology in dairy production and sustainable packaging solutions. Nils Högård, General Manager of Tetra Pak in the Arab region, accompanied them.

During their visit to Sweden, a new agreement was signed for installing the Tetra Top packaging line at the Mleiha Dairy Factory. Tetra Top packages will be used for all products in the factory. These packages combine the convenience of glass containers with modern carton design, suitable for refrigerated products and beverages stored at home or on the go.
Dr. Eng. Khalifa Musabih Ahmed Al Tunaiji expressed his satisfaction with the partnership: "We were pleased with the warm welcome and exceptional reception from the Tetra Pak team. We are excited about this partnership with one of the leading companies in food and beverage manufacturing and packaging solutions."
The collaboration involves using cutting-edge technologies in sustainable packaging provided by Tetra Pak at Mleiha Dairy Factory. This factory is unique in the UAE as it focuses on dairy production based on organic farming principles.
Tetra will also provide support for after-sales services throughout the supply chain. This partnership reflects Sharjah's efforts to establish a fully organic dairy factory using carton packaging, contributing to environmental preservation and promoting sustainability.
Furthermore, another agreement was signed regarding equipment and distribution operations for the factory. Tetra will supply all necessary facilities like steam, air, chilled water, and treatment systems for processing equipment and packaging machines at Mleiha Dairy Factory.
Commitment to Sustainability
Nils Högård commented on the visit: "We are honoured to be chosen by EKTFA for developing Mleiha Dairy Factory, focusing on organic production and sustainability." He added that their commitment is evident through this high-level visit from Sharjah's delegation to exchange advanced technological knowledge in dairy production.
These agreements are part of a previous deal signed earlier this year to provide technology to the processing facility. The comprehensive capabilities offered by Tetra include equipping production facilities with state-of-the-art processing equipment and sustainable packaging lines.
This initiative aligns perfectly with Sharjah's vision of providing organic local dairy products while achieving global quality standards. Dr. Eng. Khalifa Musabih Ahmed Al Tunaiji stated that through Tetra's advanced solutions, they aim to enhance production efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and deliver superior quality products to customers.
