Eid Al-Fitr In Diriyah: A Fusion Of Joy, Tradition, And Community Spirit
The Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) has announced a vibrant schedule of events and activities to mark this year's Eid Al-Fitr, inviting both residents and visitors of Diriyah to join in the celebrations. The festivities are spread across several key locations, including the historic UNESCO World Heritage Site of At-Turaif, the culinary hotspot Bujairi Terrace, and various Diriyah mosques, each offering unique experiences that highlight Saudi traditions and hospitality.
At the heart of the celebrations, At-Turaif is set to offer an immersive experience into traditional Saudi culture. Attendees will be welcomed with the rich scents of Saudi coffee and Dokhon, setting the stage for a memorable Eid. The site will host a variety of performances such as the Saudi Ardah and Samri folklore dance, alongside the "Nuzul" experience which aims to transport visitors back three hundred years to explore the daily life of At-Turaif during the First Saudi State. This journey through time is facilitated by theatrical performances and meticulously reconstructed mudbrick houses on Nuzul Street, each representing different facets of life from shopping in the souk to traditional schooling and healthcare practices.

Among the plethora of activities available, visitors can enjoy purebred Arabian horse shows, participate in a Diriyah coffee workshop, or have their names beautifully written at calligraphy stalls. DGDA has also taken special care to decorate five mosques within Diriyah, enhancing the spiritual atmosphere of Eid Al-Fitr. These mosques hosted special breakfast tables on the first day of Eid, fostering a sense of community and belonging among attendees.
In addition to mosque events, the "Huwamah Event" saw several buses touring Diriyah's neighborhoods in the evening, allowing families to easily participate in the Eid festivities. To further sweeten the celebrations, nearly 25,000 gifts, including chocolate boxes, were distributed across various locations.
Bujairi Terrace and Souq Al Mawsim
Bujairi Terrace offered its own array of activities during Eid Al-Fitr. Visitors were treated to live music performances, engaging storytelling sessions, workshops tailored for children, and traditional games. For the first time during Eid Al-Fitr, "Souq Al Mawsim" opened its doors to visitors, presenting a range of exciting activities designed to entertain and engage attendees.
The DGDA's commitment to strengthening community ties in Diriyah is evident through its extensive planning and execution of Eid Al-Fitr celebrations. By offering a diverse range of activities and experiences across multiple venues, DGDA ensures that residents and visitors alike have numerous ways to celebrate this joyous occasion. The authority extends a warm invitation to all, promising an Eid celebration that is both enriching and unforgettable.
