Ehsan Platform Facilitates Digital Zakat Al-Fitr Donations Across The Kingdom
The "Ehsan" National Platform for Charitable Work has recently made headlines by enabling the digital collection of Zakat Al-Fitr, aiming for swift distribution to those in need across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This initiative aligns with the Sharia Committee's approved charitable methods, under the leadership of Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Mutlaq, Advisor to the Royal Court and member of the Council of Senior Scholars. The move is part of the broader 4th National Campaign for Charitable Work, reflecting a commitment to community empowerment during significant times of giving and religious observance.
Zakat Al-Fitr contributions can be made through the Ehsan platform's app or website, allowing donors to specify their administrative region and the number of individuals they intend to support. This process is streamlined through collaboration and technical integration with relevant authorities across Saudi Arabia, ensuring that donations reach their intended recipients efficiently. The campaign, active throughout Ramadan, has seen contributions from a wide range of donors, including individuals, government bodies, private sector entities, and non-profit organizations.

Notably, the campaign kicked off with substantial donations from King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, contributing a total of SAR 70 million. To date, the fourth campaign has amassed over SAR 1.4 billion in donations. The Ehsan platform's success is further bolstered by support from the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), which aims to enhance the charitable sector's impact through digital donations that are both secure and reliable.
A supervisory committee comprising 13 government entities oversees the platform's operations, ensuring transparency in charitable work. Thanks to these efforts, total donations via Ehsan have exceeded SAR 6.5 billion, directly benefiting over 4.8 million beneficiaries across the Kingdom. This achievement underscores the significant role digital platforms can play in facilitating charitable giving, making it easier for donors to fulfil their religious obligations while supporting community welfare.
