EHS And FOCP Resume Campaign For Early Breast Cancer Screening

Emirates Health Services (EHS), represented by Saqr Hospital, has resumed its early breast cancer screening campaign for the second consecutive year. This initiative aligns with EHS's commitment to enhancing health awareness and supporting preventive measures nationwide. The campaign, in collaboration with Friends of Cancer Patients (FOCP), is themed "Initiate Action, Receive Hope" and aims to raise awareness about early breast cancer detection while offering free screenings for women aged 40 and above.

Dr. Muna Al Ayyan, Director of Saqr Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah, announced that this year's campaign has expanded beyond Ras Al Khaimah to include Ajman and Umm Al Qaiwain. The number of mobile clinics has doubled from 10 to 20, allowing the campaign to reach a wider audience and maximise its impact. Additionally, Saqr Hospital will host various events during the campaign period, including Pink Friday events in October.

Breast Cancer Screening Resumed

The campaign runs from August until 26th November and features 20 mobile clinics equipped with mammography and ultrasound machines. These clinics ensure top-notch diagnostic services are available. Besides mammograms, the campaign offers clinical examinations and other specialised tests for disease detection. A series of awareness sessions will also be organised to highlight the importance of early detection in preventing and treating breast cancer and educate women on self-examination techniques.

Dr. Essam Al Zarooni, Acting Executive Director of the Clinical Services Sector at EHS, emphasised that early detection is crucial in combating breast cancer. He encouraged women to take advantage of the preventive screenings available. Dr. Al Zarooni highlighted Emirates Health Services' dedication to providing comprehensive services at its health centres and affiliated hospitals. This initiative supports the UAE leadership's directives and aligns with the "We the UAE 2031" vision aimed at enhancing citizens' quality of life.

This year's efforts will focus on following up with individuals screened last year while maximising outreach to ensure as many women as possible benefit from the programme. The campaign is part of broader initiatives aimed at improving public health and fostering a culture of early prevention within the Emirati community.

The ongoing commitment by Emirates Health Services reflects a proactive approach towards health awareness and preventive care. By expanding its reach and increasing resources, EHS aims to make significant strides in early breast cancer detection across various regions.
