Egyptian Pilgrim Survives Heart Attack And Will Continue Hajj After Treatment At King Abdullah Medical City
An Egyptian pilgrim's life was saved by a rapid response from Saudi Arabia's Urgent Care System after he suffered a severe heart attack. The cardiac care team at King Abdullah Medical City, part of the Makkah Health Cluster, executed the emergency medical procedure.
Shortly after leaving the airport, the pilgrim began experiencing worsening pain. Despite this, he was determined to perform Umrah. As his condition deteriorated, he reached out to the group's physician, who conducted an electrocardiogram (ECG) and identified a critical heart attack that required immediate attention.

The physician promptly contacted King Abdullah Medical City's emergency hotline. The case was swiftly received, and a specialized medical team transferred the patient directly to the catheterization lab. A diagnostic procedure revealed that open-heart surgery was urgently needed to save his life.
The pilgrim underwent successful surgery involving grafting two main arteries and repairing the mitral valve. This operation was performed within a highly coordinated medical system. His recovery is now progressing well, and he is preparing to complete his Hajj under close medical supervision throughout the season.
A smartwatch linked to the Seha Virtual Hospital assists in monitoring his health during recovery. This case underscores King Abdullah Medical City's advanced preparedness and compassionate care for pilgrims worldwide. Their swift intervention highlights their commitment to providing top-notch healthcare services.
