Egypt's Tourism Flourishes With A 27% Increase In Visitors In Four Months Of 2024
Egypt has witnessed a remarkable surge in its tourism sector during the first four months of 2024, with a 27% increase in the number of visitors compared to the same period last year. This growth is significantly bolstered by a 54% rise in tourists from Arab nations, highlighting the successful efforts of the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism to boost Arab tourist arrivals, particularly from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
Ghada Shalaby, Vice Minister for Tourism of Egypt, shared these insights with the Emirates News Agency (WAM) while attending the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai. Shalaby emphasized that Egypt's active participation in this global event is part of a broader strategy to foster greater tourism exchange with Arab countries and beyond. The ATM serves as a pivotal platform for Egypt to showcase its rich cultural and historical heritage, aiming to draw more visitors from the GCC and other regions.

The Vice Minister expressed confidence in the tourism outlook for 2024, attributing this optimism to various initiatives undertaken by Egypt to enhance its appeal as a prime tourist destination. Among these initiatives are efforts to streamline visa processes for tourists, launch promotional campaigns targeting new markets such as India, Australia, and Turkiye, and strengthen Egypt's tourism infrastructure.
At the forefront of these endeavors are nearly 70 Egyptian companies along with numerous investors and stakeholders from the tourism, aviation, hotel, and hospitality sectors. Their presence at the ATM underscores Egypt's commitment to forging new partnerships and exploring opportunities for collaboration with counterparts from across the GCC and the Middle East. Moreover, these engagements are aimed at attracting foreign investments from new markets worldwide, further solidifying Egypt's position on the global tourism map.
The significant growth in tourist arrivals from Arab countries and the proactive measures taken by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism underscore a strategic approach to revitalizing Egypt's tourism sector. By capitalizing on regional collaborations and expanding its reach into new markets, Egypt is poised to sustain and enhance its tourism industry's growth trajectory in 2024 and beyond.
