Egypt's Population Set To Hit A Whopping 117 Million By 2030: Report
Egypt faces a burgeoning population crisis, with projections indicating a significant increase in its population in the coming years. The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), recently disclosed staggering figures regarding Egypt's demographic future.
CAPMAS revealed that Egypt's population is expected to hit the 117 million mark by 2030. Even more alarming, forecasts suggest that by 2025, the population could soar to approximately 157 million if the current birth rates persist. As of now, the population has already crossed the 106 million threshold, specifically reaching 106,050,650.
The annual increase of 2 million individuals, which, despite efforts to mitigate overpopulation, underscores the continuous growth. Interestingly, the growth rate has seen a decrease over the past five years, attributed to the government's anti-overpopulation measures. However, the rate of births in the country remains high, with four children born every minute, translating to 5,600 newborns daily or approximately one birth every 15 seconds.
Furthermore, Egypt's birth rate stood at 2.8 children per woman, in 2022. These statistics illuminate the challenges Egypt faces in terms of population control and the implications for resource allocation and management in the near future.
As Egypt grapples with this demographic dilemma, the government continues to implement measures aimed at curbing the population growth. However, the effectiveness of these interventions remains to be seen, given the projected figures. The country stands at a critical juncture, with the need for comprehensive strategies to manage its growing population more pressing than ever.
