Egypt Announces New International Tourist Port In New Ras El-Hekma With UAE Investment

In a significant development aimed at enhancing Egypt's tourism and maritime infrastructure, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has sanctioned the construction of an international tourist port in New Ras El-Hekma city. This ambitious project is poised to cater to tourist cruises and yachts, marking a notable stride in the country's efforts to attract global tourists and bolster its tourism sector.

The Marine Transport and Logistics sector of the Ministry of Transport has been tasked with the technical supervision of the project. According to the decree announced in the Official Gazette, the Ministry of Transport is also responsible for issuing executive decisions and coordinating with relevant authorities to ensure the smooth execution of the project. This collaborative approach underscores the government's commitment to streamlining efforts across various sectors to achieve its tourism and economic goals.

UAE's $35 Billion Investment

In a related development that highlights the regional interest in Egypt's tourism and infrastructure potential, the UAE-based investment firm ADQ has committed a substantial investment of $35 billion in Ras El-Hekma. This investment, agreed upon in February 2024, signifies a robust confidence in the region's development prospects and is expected to play a crucial role in the overall growth and enhancement of New Ras El-Hekma city.

The establishment of the international tourist port, combined with the significant investment from ADQ, is set to position New Ras El-Hekma as a premier destination for maritime tourism. The project not only aims to attract luxury yachts and cruise ships but also envisions boosting the local economy by increasing tourist footfall and creating new job opportunities.

This initiative is part of a broader strategy by the Egyptian government to diversify its tourism offerings and improve its infrastructure to support sustainable growth. By focusing on maritime tourism, Egypt is leveraging its strategic geographic location and rich cultural heritage to draw a more diverse group of international visitors.

The approval of the international tourist port by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, coupled with the UAE's substantial investment in Ras El-Hekma, showcases a promising future for Egypt's tourism industry. With the technical and financial groundwork being laid, the project is anticipated to significantly contribute to the country's tourism landscape, offering a unique destination for tourists around the globe.
