Egypt And Kuwait Emphasise Peaceful Dialogue For Conflict Resolution In The Middle East

Egypt and Kuwait have highlighted the importance of fostering a culture of peace and dialogue in the Middle East. They aim to resolve conflicts through diplomacy, promoting sustainable development and peaceful coexistence. This aligns with values such as tolerance, respect for state sovereignty, and non-interference in internal affairs. These points were made during President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's official visit to Kuwait, where he met with Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

The leaders expressed their satisfaction with the current level of bilateral coordination in international forums. They also pledged mutual support for nominations to international positions. Both countries are keen on enhancing economic ties, with Kuwait planning investments in Egypt across various sectors like energy, agriculture, and real estate development.

Egypt and Kuwait Call for Peace in Middle East

During discussions, both sides agreed to boost economic relations further. The Kuwaiti side intends to invest in Egypt's economy by exploring opportunities in diverse sectors such as information technology, banking, and pharmaceuticals. The Gulf-Egypt Investment Forum set for Cairo later this year is seen as crucial for these efforts.

The leaders condemned Israel's violations of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. They stressed the need for international intervention to resolve the Palestinian issue through a two-state solution. This includes establishing an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Security in the Red Sea and other regional waterways was another focus area. Both nations emphasised adherence to international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, to ensure freedom of navigation and regional security.

On Lebanon, they expressed hope for political stability through presidential elections and necessary reforms. They condemned Israeli violations of Lebanese sovereignty and reiterated support for UN Security Council Resolution 1701.

Commitment to Peace in Syria

The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to a political solution in Syria per UN Security Council Resolution 2254. They called for increased humanitarian aid and efforts to restore stability while preserving Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Both countries rejected any attempts to undermine the Palestinian cause or displace Palestinians from Gaza, the West Bank, or East Jerusalem. They highlighted the importance of supporting UNRWA's budget amid ongoing challenges.

The statement concluded with a commitment from both nations to continue addressing regional issues collaboratively. They aim to strengthen Arab solidarity and joint action on matters of common concern.
