Egypt Shines As Guest Of Honour At Abu Dhabi Book Fair, Strengthening Cultural Bonds

Dr. Neveen Youssef Mohamed Al Kilany, the Egyptian Minister of Culture, recently highlighted the significance of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, not just within the Arab region but globally. She underscored Egypt's honored position in the current edition of the fair, reflecting on the profound cultural heritage and influence of Egypt both in the Arab world and internationally. The fair, according to Dr. Al Kilany, serves as a platform to showcase Egypt's rich cultural tapestry through various activities, seminars, and exhibitions.

The Egyptian pavilion at the fair is a hub of cultural exchange, featuring an array of activities including documentary screenings, an exhibition by notable visual artists, and a display of significant ancient manuscripts from the Egyptian National Library. Additionally, visitors can explore a vast collection of Egyptian pottery works presented by the Cultural Development Fund and enjoy performances by the Nile Folk Instruments Ensemble throughout the event.

Egypt Honoured at Abu Dhabi Book Fair

Dr. Al Kilany also touched upon the deep cultural ties between the United Arab Emirates and Egypt, noting the longstanding cooperation in literature and arts. This year's fair marks a milestone in this collaborative relationship, with Egypt being named the "Guest of Honour" for its 33rd edition. The choice underscores the mutual respect and shared cultural values between the two nations. Furthermore, Dr. Al Kilany expressed her delight that renowned novelist Naguib Mahfouz is being celebrated as the personality of this year's book fair.

The minister emphasized the strong bonds of love, brotherhood, and productive cooperation that exist between the UAE and Egypt. These relations are deeply rooted and have been further strengthened through joint cultural initiatives between their respective Ministries of Culture. The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair stands as a testament to these enduring ties, offering a window into Egypt's vast cultural contributions and its pivotal role on both regional and global stages.
