Egypt's Ministry Of Youth And Sports Unveils Details For The 10th Zayed Charity Run In Giza
The Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports has revealed plans for the 10th Zayed Charity Run, scheduled for 26th December in Sheikh Zayed City, Giza. This event is organised in collaboration with the Higher Organising Committee of the Zayed Charity Run. Proceeds from this year's race will benefit the Egyptian Food Bank.
Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, highlighted the race's significance as a symbol of humanitarian sporting cooperation between Egypt and the UAE. He emphasised that it showcases strong bilateral relations and uses sport to create social impact. The ministry is committed to honouring the humanitarian legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan by ensuring a well-organised event.

The race will start at the Zayed 2000 entrance and end at ZED Park. It includes a 10km race, a 5km race for amateurs and People of Determination, and a 5km wheelchair competition for professionals. The venue is ready to accommodate a large number of participants, with all proceeds supporting the Food Bank’s initiatives.
Mohsen Sarhan Ali, CEO of Egyptian Food Bank, stated that their involvement underscores their dedication to community support. He noted that their mission extends beyond food assistance to include backing initiatives that aid vulnerable families and encourage volunteerism.
Previous editions have seen significant participation: 10,000 runners in Cairo during 2015 and 2016, another 10,000 in Luxor in 2017, followed by 15,000 in Ismailia in 2018 and Suez in 2019. In Alexandria in 2022, there were 20,000 participants; this number grew to 25,000 in the New Administrative Capital in 2023 and is expected to reach 50,000 in 2024.
The increasing number of participants over the years reflects growing public interest in this charitable event. The ministry is leveraging its resources to ensure that this year's run is successful and honours Sheikh Zayed's humanitarian vision.
