EGA Celebrates Launch Of MBZ-SAT Satellite Built With Sustainable CelestiAL Solar Aluminium
Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) marked a significant achievement with the launch of MBZ-SAT, the region's most advanced satellite. Developed by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), it incorporates EGA’s CelestiAL solar aluminium. This collaboration highlights a major milestone in the UAE's space sector, aligning with the nation's Operation 300bn initiative and aspirations to lead in space exploration.
EGA provided MBRSC with CelestiAL solar aluminium from Jebel Ali, which was crafted into essential components for MBZ-SAT by a local partner. Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, CEO of EGA, stated, "Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre’s use of EGA’s CelestiAL solar aluminium for MBZ-SAT shows how sustainable innovation is shaping the future of both space technology and our nation’s industrial ecosystem. EGA was the first company in the world to produce aluminium commercially using solar power, significantly reducing emissions. We are proud that EGA’s solar aluminium is now heading to the stars."

Salem Humaid AlMarri, Director-General of MBRSC, commented on this achievement: "The successful launch of MBZ-SAT is a testament to the UAE’s vision of pushing the boundaries of innovation and technological excellence. At MBRSC, we are always committed to contributing to the diversification and growth of the UAE's economy through strategic collaborations. By working with partners such as EGA, we have demonstrated how the coming together of expertise and shared ambitions can drive the nation’s space sector forward. By integrating locally produced components, we are not only enhancing the capabilities of our space missions but also reinforcing the UAE's position as a hub for pioneering advancements and global partnerships."
Advanced Satellite Technology
Launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, MBZ-SAT honours President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The satellite boasts advanced image capture technology capable of producing high-resolution and precise imagery. This development underscores the UAE's commitment to advancing its technological capabilities and fostering global partnerships.
The collaboration between EGA and MBRSC exemplifies how local expertise can contribute to significant achievements in space exploration. By integrating innovative materials like CelestiAL solar aluminium into their projects, they are setting new standards for sustainability and technological advancement in the region.
