EDGE Group Partners With Wazoku To Launch Global Innovation Challenge For Drone In A Box Solutions
EDGE, a prominent player in advanced technology and defence, has teamed up with Wazoku to launch a global innovation challenge. This initiative, hosted on the Wazoku Crowd platform, aims to discover cutting-edge 'Drone in a Box' solutions. The competition invites participation from innovators, start-ups, universities, and established organisations worldwide.
The challenge seeks comprehensive systems that integrate a drone, docking and charging station, ground control platform, and operational software into one scalable unit. A total prize fund of US$20,000 is on offer, with US$15,000 for the winner and US$5,000 for the runner-up. Finalists will have the chance to present their solutions at EDGE's facilities.

This initiative responds to the increasing demand for autonomous UAV systems that are cost-effective and can operate in challenging environments. EDGE is particularly interested in solutions that require minimal human intervention and incorporate AI-driven autonomy, predictive maintenance, advanced navigation capabilities, and mobile or remote deployment options.
Ahmed Al Khoori of EDGE Group stated that this challenge offers a significant opportunity to influence the future of defence technology. He emphasised the importance of engaging a global community of problem-solvers through this partnership with Wazoku to define the next evolution of unmanned systems.
The EDGE Innovation team leads this initiative as part of their commitment to open collaboration and rapid capability development. This aligns with EDGE’s Learning & Innovation Factory (LIF) strategy which focuses on investing in advanced technologies and fostering innovation within the UAE's technology ecosystem.
Wazoku Crowd connects over 700,000 solvers globally, including engineers and technologists. It has previously achieved successful outcomes for organisations like NASA and the UK Ministry of Defence. Simon Hill from Wazoku expressed pride in partnering with EDGE on this challenge.
