Ecuador's President Daniel Noboa Engages With UAE Envoy To Strengthen Bilateral Relations

Daniel Noboa, President of Ecuador, recently engaged in discussions with Omar Sultan Al Olama, the UAE's Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications. Their talks focused on enhancing bilateral relations and exploring new areas for cooperation between Ecuador and the UAE. This meeting was part of an official visit by a UAE delegation to Ecuador.

The delegation, led by Al Olama, included representatives from both public and private sectors. They met with various Ecuadorian ministers and officials to discuss strengthening ties and advancing strategic cooperation. The visit also marked the launch of the first UAE–Ecuador Economic and Business Forum.

The forum brought together government representatives and leaders from economic, investment, and technological sectors. They explored ways to enhance economic partnerships and future cooperation between entrepreneurs and companies in both countries. Additionally, avenues for investment and future economic opportunities were discussed.

During the visit, the establishment of the UAE–Ecuador Parliamentary Friendship Group was announced. This group aims to enhance collaboration between the two nations. Al Olama highlighted that under President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's leadership, the UAE is committed to strengthening ties globally.

Al Olama held meetings with senior Ecuadorian officials such as Gabriela Sommerfeld, Roberto Carlos Kury Pesantes, Inés María Manzano Díaz, Luis Alberto Jaramillo Granja, Franklin Danilo Palacios Marquez, Gian Carlo Loffredo Rendón, John Reimberg Oviedo, Sariha Belén Moya Angulo, Humberto Aparicio Plaza Arguello, Roberto Xavier Luque Nuques, Mateo Julián Estrella, Pablo José Cevallos, César Vásquez, Jose Julio Neira Hanze, and Leonard Bruns.

These meetings focused on future-oriented areas of cooperation including trade, human capital development, energy security, food production, and agriculture. Al Olama also participated in joint working groups at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The UAE delegation included key figures such as Ibrahim Al Alawi (UAE Ambassador to Ecuador), Saeed Al Gergawi (Vice President of Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy), Dr. Jean-Paul Muka (Business Development Director at Presight), Kate Kamarchuk (Commercial Director at AI71), Issa Khoory (Managing Director at Mirak Group), Abdulla Al Shamsi (Director of Business Development at XRG – ADNOC Group), Nawal Al Ameri (Director of Government Relations at Al Dahra), Ismaail Bakri (Procurement Manager at Al Bakrawe Group), Gianmarco Mazzetti (Area Manager at Emirates Airlines), Carlos Merino (CEO of DP World in Peru and Ecuador), Cristina Lazo (Senior Director of Legal & Corporate Affairs of DP World in Peru and Ecuador), Xavier Cardenas (Special Economic Zone & Business Projects Senior Manager at DP World Ecuador), Mauricio Campos (Senior Legal Manager at DP World Ecuador), Abdulla Almarzooqi (State Cases Advisor in International Cooperation Department at Ministry of Justice), Adil El Yacoubi (CEO of Executive Advisory), Mohamed AlSharhan (Managing Director of World Governments Summit Organisation) and Ruqayya AlBlooshi (Executive Director of International Relations at Prime Minister’s Office).

UAE business representatives held bilateral meetings with their Ecuadorian counterparts to explore opportunities for launching new ventures. They aimed to enhance partnerships across various sectors including technology and business.

A Vision for Inclusive Development

Al Olama emphasised that this visit builds on five decades of strong ties between the two nations. He stated: "The visit reinforces both countries’ commitment to pushing the boundaries of partnership." The advanced partnership aims to benefit people through productive cooperation across mutual interests.

The UAE's focus on South American nations is driven by its belief in collaboration's importance for comprehensive development. This approach empowers communities to achieve aspirations efficiently while shaping a brighter future for upcoming generations.

The visit concluded with a session attended by members from Ecuadorian business committees where national projects related to energy and agriculture were showcased. Additionally, visits were made to institutes focusing on youth initiatives within key sectors.
