Eastern Region Principality And THE RIG Ink Deal To Create Offshore-Inspired Tourism Hub

In a significant development on March 03, 2024, in Dammam, the Eastern Region's Governor, Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, presided over a landmark agreement signing. This partnership between the Principality of Eastern Region and THE RIG, a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), aims to spearhead the THERIG project. This ambitious initiative is set to redefine marine activities and establish a novel tourism and entertainment hub.

The comprehensive investment agreement outlines plans for the construction, development, operation, and maintenance of a multifaceted tourist and visitor station. This includes a marina for yachts and seaplanes, helipads, and an array of support activities designed to enhance the project's offerings. THERIG stands out as the world's first tourist destination drawing inspiration from offshore oil platforms in the Arabian Gulf, setting a new benchmark in global tourism.

Central to this project is an offshore platform strategically located in the Arabian Gulf near Al Juraid Island. This platform is complemented by additional stations along Dammam Corniche, the Cultural Center, and Jubail Corniche. The project promises an eclectic mix of hotels, amusement parks, water sports, adventures, and facilities catering to visitors and tourists. With three hotels and eleven restaurants on the platform itself, THERIG is poised to offer an unparalleled entertainment and tourism experience.
