The ceremony, graced by the presence of Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Region, saw the Principality of Eastern Region and THE RIG, a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), come together to initiate the THERIG project.

This ambitious project aims to leverage marine activities by creating a distinctive tourist and entertainment destination inspired by offshore oil platforms in the Arabian Gulf. It is poised to be the first of its kind globally. The agreement outlines plans for constructing, developing, operating, and maintaining a comprehensive tourist and visitor station. This includes a marina for yachts and seaplanes, helipads, and various support activities integral to the project's success.

Innovative Tourism Project in Eastern Region

At the heart of THERIG project lies an offshore platform situated in the Arabian Gulf near Al Juraid Island. This central platform is complemented by additional stations located on Dammam Corniche, the Cultural Center, and Jubail Corniche. The project envisions incorporating hotels, amusement parks, water sports, adventures, and facilities catering to visitors and tourists. Notably, the platform will feature three hotels and eleven restaurants, promising a blend of luxury and adventure.

The THERIG project is expected to significantly contribute to the entertainment, tourism, marine activities sectors, and enhance transportation means. It aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 by aiming to improve the quality of life and foster economic diversification. The Eastern Region has emerged as a focal point for investment, leading in attracting foreign investment following the launch of investment projects worth SAR18 billion by the Governor.

This initiative underscores Saudi Arabia's commitment to expanding its tourism and entertainment offerings as part of its broader economic diversification strategy. By introducing innovative concepts like THERIG project, the Kingdom is set to redefine leisure and adventure on a global scale.
