Eastern Region Governor Launches The 10th Edition Of The Al-Ahsa Processed Dates Festival To Promote Local Agriculture

The 10th Al-Ahsa Processed Dates Festival was launched by Governor of the Eastern Region, Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz. He highlighted the festival's role in boosting Al-Ahsa's date marketing and advancing agricultural practices. These efforts align with Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to enhance global exports and transform dates into a significant economic asset. The event was organised by Al-Ahsa Municipality in collaboration with local authorities.

During the festival's opening at Al-Ahsa Municipality Castle, Prince Saud bin Naif attended a performance titled ‘Ten Years Operetta’. He also toured various pavilions and exhibits showcasing the region's date products. The event was held under the theme ‘Dates From Our Oasis’ and saw the presence of Governor of Al-Ahsa, Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr. At the ceremony's end, Prince Saud honoured sponsors and participants for their contributions.

Governor Launches 10th Processed Dates Festival

Engineer Essam bin Abdullatif Al-Mulla, Secretary of Al-Ahsa Governorate, stated that the festival aims to promote Al-Ahsa dates and their processing industries. It seeks to boost investment opportunities and economic contributions while supporting farmers, factory owners, and shopkeepers by offering a marketing platform for their products. This initiative underscores the cultural importance of dates linked to Al-Ahsa’s heritage.

The festival features seven main sections, each offering diverse cultural and entertainment programs. These include Heritage Oasis, Creativity Oasis, Heritage District, Creative Al-Ahsa Oasis, Children’s Oasis, Interior Square, and Castle Theatre. Various accompanying events are also planned to provide an integrated experience for all target groups.

The festival not only focuses on economic growth but also highlights the cultural significance of dates in Al-Ahsa’s social traditions. By leveraging strategic strengths, it offers a unique tourism experience combining shopping, entertainment, and culture in one venue. This approach aims to attract visitors while celebrating the region's rich agricultural heritage.

Prince Saud emphasised that these efforts adhere to high quality standards to enhance global exports of dates. Transforming this agricultural product into a key economic asset supports local output in line with Saudi Vision 2030. The festival reflects successes achieved in date marketing and innovative practices within the industry.
