Eastern Region Governor Prince Saud Bin Naif Hosts Closing Ceremony Of Asian Physics Olympiad 2025 In Dhahran
The 25th Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) concluded with a ceremony at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Dhahran. Eastern Region Governor Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz sponsored the event, which was attended by Minister of Education Yousef Al-Benyan. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia hosted this prestigious competition from May 4 to 12, bringing together 240 students from 30 nations, along with 110 international physics experts.
Prince Saud highlighted that hosting such a significant scientific event underscores Saudi Arabia's leadership in nurturing talent and innovation. He emphasised that it strengthens the trust of global institutions in the Kingdom's organisational and intellectual prowess. This event also reflects Saudi Arabia's remarkable advancements in science education and human capital development through effective sector integration.

This year's APhO marked the first time the competition was held in the Middle East, demonstrating Saudi Arabia's dedication to empowering youth and fostering scientific talent. The event aligns with the Kingdom's global leadership in energy and its continuous investment in people, supporting young minds and establishing itself as a hub for scientific excellence worldwide.
The Asian Physics Olympiad began in Indonesia in 1999 with participation from 12 countries. Over the years, it has expanded to include 30 nations, becoming one of the most esteemed annual international competitions for talented high school students specialising in physics.
