Eastern Region Partners With THE RIG For Groundbreaking Tourism Project

In a significant development for Saudi Arabia's tourism and entertainment sector, the Eastern Region has embarked on a pioneering project with THE RIG, a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF). On Sunday, in Dammam, Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Region, oversaw the signing of an agreement aimed at transforming marine activities and creating a distinctive tourism and entertainment destination.

The THERIG project is set to become the world's first tourist destination inspired by offshore oil platforms in the Arabian Gulf. This ambitious initiative will feature an offshore platform near Al Juraid Island and additional stations along Dammam Corniche, the Cultural Center, and Jubail Corniche. The comprehensive plan includes the construction, development, operation, and maintenance of a tourist and visitor station, a marina for yachts and seaplanes, helipads, and various supporting activities.

With its unique concept, THE RIG project promises to offer an unparalleled experience combining hotels, amusement parks, water sports, adventures, and dining options. The offshore platform itself will house three hotels and eleven restaurants. This initiative is not just about leisure but also aims to enhance marine activities, transportation means, and overall quality of life. It aligns with Saudi Vision 2030's objectives to improve living standards and diversify the economy.

Boosting Investment in the Eastern Region

The Eastern Region has recently emerged as a magnet for significant investment capital, leading in attracting foreign investment within Saudi Arabia. This new venture follows a series of investment projects launched by the Governor of the Eastern Region, valued at SAR18 billion. THE RIG project is expected to further cement the region's status as a key investment destination.

The collaboration between the Principality of Eastern Region and THE RIG underscores Saudi Arabia's commitment to innovative development projects that contribute to economic diversification and elevate the nation's tourism and entertainment landscape.
