Early Detection Project Launched By Zayed Higher Organisation To Improve Children's Care In Abu Dhabi
The Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO) has introduced the "Early Detection – Together We Begin" initiative in Abu Dhabi. This project aims to monitor developmental milestones in children from birth to 8 years, assisting families with early intervention if needed. This effort aligns with the Department of Health’s initiatives to enhance children's healthcare services in the emirate.
Abdullah Al Humaidan, Secretary-General of ZHO, emphasized the project's role in enhancing collaboration between healthcare and educational sectors across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra. He stated: "The Early Detection Project comes as part of strengthening coordination between healthcare and educational institutions in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra. Through this project, we aim to provide complete support to families by guiding them to first consult pediatricians to confirm their child's health status before proceeding to specialized assessments at Zayed Higher Organization. We believe that early guidance enhances the child's opportunity for natural and healthy growth and development."

The initiative includes an initial medical evaluation by a pediatrician. Following this, comprehensive assessments are conducted at specialized centers. These centers offer early intervention services designed to support children's health and educational development. The project is part of a broader institutional integration with the Department of Health's efforts in Abu Dhabi.
Naseeba Al Hamadi, Head of the Evaluation and Diagnosis Center at ZHO, highlighted the significance of early detection: "Early detection is the first step toward appropriate intervention before developmental delay becomes a major obstacle. We ensure that parents first visit a pediatrician to confirm the child's condition, and after that, we offer them the option of electronic initial screening for preliminary results or scheduling a comprehensive assessment at specialized centers for further evaluations."
Al Humaidan also noted that the project extends beyond early evaluation by providing psychological support and family guidance. This empowers families to make informed decisions regarding their children's needs. The initiative aims not only at identifying developmental delays but also at equipping families with resources for effective intervention.
This strategic move by ZHO supports national efforts to improve children's quality of life and well-being. By integrating healthcare services with educational support, the project seeks to ensure children have opportunities for healthy growth and development from an early age.
