EAD Temporarily Suspends Operations Of Two Industrial Facilities Due To Regulatory Violations
The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) has temporarily halted operations at two industrial facilities. One of these facilities also faces a fine due to repeated breaches of regulations and laws. These actions aim to safeguard public health and environmental safety, enhancing life quality in the emirate.
Reports from EAD's air quality monitoring stations revealed that emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from these facilities exceeded permissible limits. This posed risks to human health and the environment in nearby areas. Regular inspections and escalating enforcement measures supported this decision.

Engineer Faisal Al Hammadi, Executive Director of the Environmental Quality Sector at EAD, stated, "The Agency, within the framework of its legislative and regulatory role as the competent authority concerned with environmental affairs in the emirate, is keen to ensure that facilities in Abu Dhabi adhere to, and comply with, environmental regulations and laws." He noted that decisions are based on reports from air quality monitoring stations, inspection visits, and public complaints.
The two facilities committed several violations. They failed to implement measures to reduce harmful organic emissions. Additionally, they did not inform EAD about technical changes to their projects or activities as required by their environmental licences.
EAD emphasised its dedication to ongoing monitoring and inspections of facilities. This ensures adherence to environmental standards for protecting community health and the environment. The agency reiterated its call for industrial establishments in Abu Dhabi to comply with legislative requirements to avoid penalties.
The agency's actions highlight the importance of compliance with environmental regulations. By enforcing these standards, EAD aims to mitigate negative impacts on both human health and the surrounding ecosystem.
