The Emirates Arabian Horse Society (EAHS) recently marked its participation in the 41st edition of the General Assembly of the European Arabian Horse Organisation (ECAHO), a significant event that concluded on Sunday at the Marsa Plaza Kempinski Hotel in Doha. This assembly saw representation from 28 member states across the Middle East and Europe, highlighting its importance in the equestrian world.

Under the chairmanship of ECAHO President Jaroslav Lacina, the assembly addressed numerous critical issues. The meeting was a platform for discussing various topics, including horse medicine and care, committee reports, and budgetary matters.

One of the notable outcomes of this assembly was the official approval of Dr. Omar Raza Gil as an international member of the "B" disciplinary committee. Additionally, Emirati national Ahmed Al Badi was selected as an international ringmaster in ECAHO, showcasing the UAE's growing influence in the equestrian domain. Furthermore, Anna Stojanowski from Poland was elected as Treasurer, indicating a diverse representation within the organisation.

The assembly also brought significant updates to the Arabian Horse Championship, part of the El Jadida Horse Show held annually in Morocco. The championship was elevated from the (A) category to the (Title Show) category. Moreover, a shift in full membership from the Royal Cavalry of Oman to the Equestrian Federation in the Sultanate of Oman was approved. Applications for associate membership from the Iraqi Arabian Horse Organisation and the Australian Arabian Breeders Alliance were also reviewed.

ECAHO plays a pivotal role in organising Arabian Horse Shows and establishing laws and conditions for these events. It is dedicated to ensuring the safety and veterinary care of participating horses. The accreditation of Ahmed Al Badi as an international arena judge during this meeting underscores EAHS's commitment to qualifying trained technical personnel. This initiative aligns with directives from His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, aiming to support qualified UAE nationals in this field.

Mohamed Al Harbi emphasized that UAE's active participation in ECAHO's General Assembly reinforces its position and aids in decision-making related to Arabian horse shows and similar events. The UAE's involvement is instrumental in developing guidelines that are suitable for the region's nature. Furthermore, Al Harbi highlighted how such participation supports national cadres, including Emirati judges and arena judges, thereby empowering them within the industry.

The significant Emirati presence at this forum not only strengthens UAE's stance in equestrian affairs but also contributes to fostering expertise among its nationals, ensuring their active involvement and leadership in global equestrian events.
