Eid Travel Boom: Dubai International Expecting 3.6 Million Passengers In The Next Fortnight
Dubai International (DXB) is preparing for an extraordinary Eid holiday rush, expecting over 3.6 million travelers to navigate its terminals between March 26 and April 7, 2025. This forecast highlights a significant increase in traffic, with the daily average reaching 276,000 guests. The most crowded day is projected to be Saturday, April 5, with an anticipated 309,000 travelers.
In anticipation of the Eid travel peak, DXB has seen a notable demand in flights to and from key visiting friends and relatives (VFR) markets such as India, Pakistan, and the United Kingdom. Additionally, there is an increase in leisure travel, with more people flying to destinations like Sri Lanka, Türkiye, and Italy. The surge reflects the seasonal travel uplift, especially with schools closing for spring break.

To ease the holiday rush, Dubai Airports recently launched the DXB Express Maps. This innovative tool aids passengers in navigating the airport's terminals efficiently during busy times. By scanning a QR code found on flight information screens, travelers can access real-time navigation to their gate, explore dining and retail options, and locate facilities quickly.
Dubai Airports has also taken steps to improve services for People of Determination (PoD). With clearly marked accessibility routes, discreet assistance for guests sporting the Sunflower Lanyard from specially trained staff, and a dedicated Assisted Travel Lounge in Terminal 2, the airport ensures a smoother travel experience for all.
In a collaborative effort with airlines, service providers, commercial partners, and government bodies, Dubai Airports aims to ensure fluid movement of guests throughout the terminals during this busy period. This initiative reflects the airport's commitment to maintaining seamless operations and high-quality service standards amidst the expected surge in passenger numbers.
The Eid travel period typically sees a sharp increase in departures, with the first week of April witnessing a 19% rise compared to the average weekly volumes over the past month. This spike is indicative of the significant seasonal travel patterns during this festive period.
Dubai International is well-prepared for the upcoming holiday season, implementing measures to manage the increased traffic flow effectively. By introducing innovative solutions like DXB Express Maps and enhancing services for passengers with additional needs, the airport ensures a stress-free and efficient travel experience for the millions expected to pass through its gates during the Eid holidays.
