Severe Dust Storm Hits Iraq, Over 100 Residents Hospitalised With Respiratory Issues
A severe dust storm recently engulfed Iraq's Kirkuk province, leading to serious health concerns among its residents. The storm, which commenced on a Tuesday morning, escalated in intensity over the day, posing a significant threat, especially to individuals already suffering from chronic respiratory illnesses.
Saman Yaba, the spokesperson for the region's health directorate, revealed that the dust storm resulted in 109 individuals experiencing respiratory issues. These patients sought treatment in various hospitals throughout the area.

"All medical facilities were on full alert," he stated, emphasizing the swift response to the health crisis. Fortunately, the majority of those affected were able to recover quickly after receiving necessary medical attention.
The health authorities in Kirkuk province have reported multiple incidents of people struggling to breathe due to the dust storm that has blanketed the area. This environmental event has especially impacted those with pre-existing respiratory conditions, highlighting the urgent need for effective health responses in such situations.
