Ducab Reports Record Growth And Sustainability Milestones In 2024 With New Market Expansions

Ducab Group ended 2024 with remarkable growth, solidifying its status as a global leader in energy solutions and sustainable manufacturing. Celebrating its 45th year, the Group entered over 20 new markets, boosted production capacity, and introduced eco-friendly products. These efforts supported large infrastructure projects and accelerated industrial decarbonisation, aligning with the UAE’s net-zero goals outlined in the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the UAE Net Zero Strategy 2050.

In 2024, Ducab expanded its international reach by supplying energy solutions to more than 75 countries. A significant achievement was an agreement with Emirates NBD India under the UAE-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). This deal strengthens economic ties between the nations and enhances Ducab’s role in India’s infrastructure and energy sectors. The Bengaluru office, opened in early 2023, bolstered Ducab's presence in India and Southeast Asia, marking India as a key market.

Ducab Achieves Growth and Sustainability in 2024

Africa emerged as a major growth area for Ducab in 2024. The company supplied Senegal with its first shipment of 220kV copper high-voltage cables. This project is part of Dakar’s electrification initiative, making Senegal the 23rd African nation to benefit from Ducab’s solutions. It supports Senegal's goal of achieving universal electricity access by 2026.

The CEO of Ducab Group, Mohammed Abdul Rahman Al Mutawa, stated: "2024 has been an important year for Ducab, marked by growth, innovation, and leadership in sustainable manufacturing. We’ve entered new markets, increased production, and launched products that support infrastructure and decarbonization. This progress reinforces our role in global energy solutions and our commitment to the UAE’s clean energy and net-zero goals. As we grow, we stay dedicated to creating value for our partners and communities."

Ducab Metals Business (DMB), a subsidiary of Ducab, saw substantial growth by doubling its annual aluminium production capacity from 55,000 to 110,000 tonnes while increasing bare copper output. This expansion meets rising global demand for UAE-manufactured metals and enhances DMB's competitiveness internationally. It supports the UAE’s Operation 300bn strategy aimed at driving industrial development and economic diversification.

A notable milestone for DMB was acquiring GIC Magnet to expand its non-ferrous metals portfolio. This acquisition introduced paper-insulated aluminium strips essential for electric vehicles (EVs), transformers, and electromagnets. DMB became the region's only approved supplier for these products in the US market through this move.

Innovative Eco-Friendly Products

DMB also launched its ‘Green Aluminium Rod’, made from recycled materials to align with the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). This product emits just 0.5 tons of carbon dioxide per ton produced while reducing energy consumption by 95%. By focusing on recycling, DMB prevents nine tons of CO2 emissions per ton produced.

Ducab advanced its decarbonisation efforts further by enhancing its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy in partnership with Schneider Electric in 2024.

Community Development Initiatives

Beyond industrial growth, Ducab deepened community engagement through the ‘Ducab Ducare’ programme. In the UAE, it planted 1,000 trees across facilities as part of UAE’s "Plant the Emirates" initiative. These trees absorb 22 tons of carbon annually. Additionally, Ducab collaborated with Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment to build homes for people of determination and elderly citizens.

Internationally, Ducab partnered with Dubai Cares to construct a school in Nepal under the ‘Adopt a School’ initiative. Scheduled for completion by 2025, this school will educate 200 children and offer adult literacy programs to foster growth in underserved communities.
