Ai And Autonomous Mobility: Dubai Leaders Meet Waymo At World Governments Summit

H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum met Tekedra Mawakana, Co-CEO of Waymo, during the World Governments Summit 2026 in Dubai. The discussion focused on artificial intelligence, smart mobility and autonomous vehicles, and ways these technologies can support efficient transport systems and sustainable development in the UAE and worldwide.

The meeting took place on the second day of the three-day summit, which runs until 5th February at Madinat Jumeirah. World Governments Summit 2026 gathers government leaders, policy makers and technology experts in Dubai to examine future trends and share experiences on governance, innovation and emerging sectors.

Both sides reviewed global developments in autonomous vehicles and smart mobility solutions, with attention to practical deployment. They explored opportunities for knowledge exchange and long-term cooperation between government entities and Alphabet Inc.’s autonomous driving subsidiary, Waymo, to raise transport efficiency, improve road safety and back sustainability goals in key urban markets.

H.H. Sheikh Maktoum stressed the need for governments to keep pace with rapid technological transformation. H.H. Sheikh Maktoum also underlined how strategic international partnerships can speed up innovation and help enhance quality of life. The talks highlighted the World Governments Summit as a platform linking decision-makers with technology pioneers for policy development.

Mawakana pointed to the summit’s role in building dialogue between governments and global technology companies and reaffirmed commitment to deepening collaboration on autonomous vehicle technologies. The meeting was attended by Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, Mattar Al Tayer and Helal Saeed Almarri, reflecting Dubai’s cross-sector interest in future transport and digital economy policies.
