Dubai Celebrates International Workers' Day With A Marathon For Over 1,000 Participants
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) recently hosted a marathon at Meydan in Dubai, marking a significant event in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council and the Permanent Committee for Labour Affairs in the Emirate of Dubai (PCLA). This event saw participation from over 1,000 contestants, celebrating International Workers’ Day with enthusiasm and competitive spirit.
High-profile dignitaries including Khalil Al Khoori, MoHRE’s Undersecretary for Human Resources Affairs; Saeed Hareb, Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council; and Major General Obaid Muhair bin Suroor, Deputy Director-General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs and Chairman of PCLA, were present to honour the winners. The event not only highlighted athletic prowess but also distributed gifts among participants, adding to the festive atmosphere.

The UAE's commitment to acknowledging the contributions of its diverse workforce was evident through these celebrations. Al Khoori remarked on the significance of such events in expressing gratitude towards every individual contributing to the nation's development and prosperity. He emphasized the UAE's role as a harmonious society that upholds values of compassion and tolerance among its residents from over 200 nationalities.
Under the slogan #HonouringOurWorkers, the Ministry organized various activities including visits to companies excelling in Emiratisation efforts. These visits aimed at understanding their training and employment programmes, engaging with Emirati employees in the private sector, and gathering their insights. Additionally, outreach to workers’ accommodation facilities was conducted to meet workers personally and distribute gifts, further solidifying the message of appreciation and respect towards the workforce.
Saeed Hareb highlighted the Dubai Sports Council's dedication to integrating workers into its annual roster of activities and events. This initiative provides them with opportunities to engage in sports, fostering a sense of community and broadening their social networks within the professional ecosystem.
Major General bin Suroor reiterated the Permanent Committee for Labour Affairs in Dubai's commitment towards creating a supportive environment for workers. By launching initiatives and forming partnerships with government entities and the private sector, they aim to enhance workers' quality of life. Such efforts are designed to acknowledge their hard work, motivate excellence, and ensure stability in work relations, benefiting both employees and employers alike.
