Dubai To Highlight Tourism Innovation And Sustainability At Arabian Travel Market 2024
The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) is set to make a significant appearance at the 31st edition of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM), scheduled from May 6-9, 2024. This participation underscores Dubai's strategic emphasis on innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainability as key drivers for its tourism sector's growth. With 129 partners and stakeholders, including pivotal government entities and private sector players, DET aims to showcase the collaborative spirit that propels Dubai's tourism offerings.
Highlighting a year of success, Dubai welcomed an impressive 17.15 million international overnight visitors in 2023, marking a 19.4% increase from the previous year. The city has maintained this upward trajectory into 2024, with 3.67 million international tourists recorded in just January and February. Additionally, Dubai's acclaim as the No.1 global destination for the third consecutive year by the Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice Awards further cements its status as a premier travel destination.
At ATM, DET will engage with industry leaders to share insights and explore new trends within the tourism sector. The department's commitment to fostering collaboration with stakeholders and the global travel community is aimed at reinforcing Dubai's position as a leading innovative and sustainable tourism destination.
DET's focus at the event will not only be on showcasing Dubai's diverse attractions and infrastructure but also on highlighting its sustainability initiatives. The release of the inaugural 'Dubai Sustainability Report' during ATM will spotlight efforts such as the Dubai Sustainable Tourism Stamp and the Dubai Can movement, which notably reduced single-use plastic water bottle consumption by 18 million in two years.
In addition to sustainability, DET will promote Dubai as the cruise hub of the region through the Cruise Arabia alliance, aiming to elevate the Arabian Gulf's status on the global cruise destination map. The ATM Hosted Buyers Programme is another highlight, set to attract 600 buyers from 46 markets and countries, showcasing Dubai’s hospitality and offerings.
Visitors to the Dubai stand will have the opportunity to engage in 'Dubai Pinball', an interactive gaming experience offering prizes and competitive fun. DET will also shine a light on Dubai’s rich gastronomy scene and its vibrant calendar of events, including the ongoing Dubai Food Festival and the forthcoming Dubai Summer Surprises.
Through its participation in ATM, DET underscores Dubai’s dedication to innovation, collaboration, and sustainability within the tourism industry. The department’s efforts are aimed at positioning Dubai not only as a top global city for business and leisure but also as an ideal destination for living and working.
