Dubai Showcases Innovation Ecosystem And Tech Synergies With Singapore At GITEX Asia

Dubai recently highlighted its thriving tech ecosystem and growing collaboration with Singapore at the first GITEX Asia x AI Everything event in Singapore. This event underscored the strategic partnership between these two leading technology hubs, focusing on innovation-driven growth.

During the event, a delegation from Dubai, including key entities like Dubai Internet City, in5, Ignyte, DMCC, Oraseya Capital, Emirates, Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority, Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, and the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, showcased platforms that support startups and scale-ups aiming to expand regionally and globally.

Dubai and Singapore Enhance Tech Collaboration

The event emphasized increasing cross-border collaboration. According to FT FDI Markets, Singapore was among the top 10 sources of inbound foreign direct investment (FDI) into Dubai in 2024. Notably, 22% of project announcements from Singapore were in Software and IT Services. The Food and Beverage sector followed with 19.5%, while Financial Services accounted for 14.6%.

Highlighting the synergy between these regions, QuikBot Technologies from Singapore signed an agreement with the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority. This deal aims to deploy its Autonomous Final-Mile Delivery Platform-as-a-Service at Dubai Silicon Oasis, marking its entry into the Middle East market.

Dubai and Singapore continue to act as gateways for global business expansion. GITEX Asia demonstrated how companies based in Singapore can access rapidly growing markets in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia through Dubai. Similarly, businesses from the UAE leverage Singapore to enter Southeast Asia’s digital economy.

In 2023, to further support bilateral growth, Dubai International Chamber established a representative office in Singapore. This move aims to facilitate stronger economic ties between the two regions.

Opportunities for Tech Professionals

The Dubai stand at GITEX Asia also highlighted career opportunities within innovation sectors. Emirates presented roles for tech professionals within its expanding digital teams, showcasing pathways for career advancement in this field.

Mohamed Sharaf, Chief Operating Officer of Investment Attraction at the Dubai Economic Development Corporation stated: "As we work towards the D33 agenda, we are building closer ties with Singapore as fellow innovation-led economies. GITEX Asia offered a valuable platform to show how our ecosystems complement one another, enabling companies, investors and talent to pursue global ambitions."

With shared strengths in innovation and strategic positioning for business growth, both cities are poised to enhance their collaboration in global tech entrepreneurship.
