Dubai Energy Authority Recognizes Leaders In Sustainability And Efficiency

In a significant stride towards sustainability and energy efficiency, the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE) recently celebrated the achievements of various leaders in these critical sectors. The inaugural Dubai Demand Side Management Recognition Programme saw 26 leaders from both government and private sectors being honoured for their contributions. This recognition came from a pool of 86 nominations, highlighting the extensive efforts being made across Dubai in pursuit of sustainability.

The ceremony, held at the Four Seasons Resort Dubai, was graced by the presence of Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of DSCE, and Ahmed Butti Al Muhairbi, Secretary-General of DSCE. The event was also attended by senior officials and experts in sustainability, water, and renewable energy, underlining the importance of collaborative efforts in these areas.

Dubai Honours Energy Leaders

Al Tayer, in his address, reiterated Dubai's commitment to ensuring the sustainability of energy and water resources. He referenced the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and outlined the comprehensive plans in place. These include the Dubai Integrated Water Resource Management Strategy 2030 and the Demand Side Management Strategy aiming for a 30 percent reduction in energy and water consumption by 2030.

"Dubai Supreme Council of Energy works to make Dubai a global model for clean energy and green economy," Al Tayer stated. He further emphasized the alignment with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Emissions Strategy 2050, which targets generating 100 percent of the emirate’s energy production capacity from clean energy sources by 2050.

Al Muhairbi highlighted the significance of the Demand Side Management (DSM) Strategy as a long-term blueprint for sustainable growth. "Today marks not merely a celebration but a reaffirmation of Dubai's commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency," he remarked. This strategy is pivotal for Dubai's sustainable development and its pursuit of a net-zero future by 2050.

The recognition programme serves as a testament to Dubai's proactive approach towards integrating sustainability into its developmental agenda. By honouring leaders who have made significant strides in energy efficiency and sustainability, DSCE is fostering an environment that encourages further innovation and commitment in these crucial areas.

This initiative not only celebrates achievements but also sets a benchmark for others in the government and private sectors to aspire towards. It underscores the importance of collective action and strategic planning in achieving long-term sustainability goals, making Dubai a leading example of a green economy on the global stage.
