Dubai Sports Sector Strategic Plan 2033 Introduces Incentives To Support Clubs' Sustainability

The Dubai Sports Sector Strategic Plan 2033, introduced by H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aims to transform sports clubs in Dubai. The plan focuses on enhancing both public and private clubs' efficiency and sustainability. A key goal is to boost revenue from commercial activities to 50% by 2033, up from the current 15%, ensuring long-term financial stability.

Private sports clubs will receive AED 20 million annually to nurture talent and strengthen community impact. This funding ensures their financial and operational sustainability through specific performance indicators. Additionally, smaller private clubs will benefit from extra budgetary support each year, further promoting their growth and development.

Incentives for Dubai Sports Clubs in 2033 Plan

The strategic plan includes four main pillars: clubs, community, talent, and a robust calendar of sporting events. It encompasses 19 programmes and 75 initiatives aimed at contributing AED 18.3 billion to Dubai's GDP. This effort seeks to enhance Dubai's competitiveness in the global sports arena and shape the future of its sports sector.

Khalfan Juma Belhoul, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, highlighted their long-term vision to support sports clubs and foster public engagement. He stated: "We have a long-term vision at the Dubai Sports Council, which we will work to implement to support sports clubs, develop various sports and enhance public engagement." The council aims to elevate athletes from local stages to international platforms.

Belhoul also mentioned a new funding system that rewards government clubs based on achievements. This approach enhances financial sustainability by focusing on priorities and infrastructure needs. Private clubs will receive support for talent development and community impact while ensuring financial viability.

Professional Management Initiatives

The plan introduces initiatives for professional sports management systems linked to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Emphasis is placed on operational oversight and transparency to ensure club sustainability aligns with strategic goals. Strengthening the network of sports clubs involves efficient spending in administrative, technical, and commercial operations.

Monitoring mechanisms are in place to ensure objectives are met while enhancing revenue generation through commercial activities and sponsorships. The ‘Dubai Sports Sector Strategic Plan 2033’ reflects the commitment of the Dubai Sports Council towards sustainable club development and nurturing sporting talent.

This strategic initiative aims to position Dubai among the world's leading cities in sports by providing a supportive environment for athletes. It ensures that strategic goals are achieved while serving the future of sports in Dubai effectively.
