Dubai Silicon Oasis Launches Registration For Third MIT DesignX Dubai Accelerator Programme Cohort
Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), a hub for knowledge and innovation under the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ), has opened registration for the third MIT DesignX Dubai Accelerator Programme. This initiative, in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Global Growth Hub, will run from 20th October 2025 to 28th January 2026 at DSO.
The programme aims to unite 12 teams dedicated to creating sustainable solutions for urban challenges. It will focus on five strategic sectors: real estate, design and architecture, transportation and logistics, sustainability, and health. These areas align with Dubai's vision for smart and resilient cities.

This edition builds on past successes. In the first cohort, Othalo received USD 200,000 for transforming plastic waste into housing. The second cohort saw Theion awarded AED 100,000 for advancements in crystalline lithium-sulfur battery technology. They also gained a year-long business setup at Dubai Technology Entrepreneur Campus (Dtec).
Dtec is the largest tech-focused coworking space in MENA, offering a platform for scaling innovations within the UAE's digital economy. Badr Buhannad, Director General of DSO, stated that this programme is crucial for positioning Dubai as a global hub for sustainable innovation and entrepreneurship.
Buhannad emphasised their commitment to attracting global talent to address urban challenges in line with the UAE Centennial 2071 plan and Dubai Urban Master Plan 2040. "Through this Programme we are providing a unique platform that brings together international academic excellence, world-class infrastructure, and a supportive investment ecosystem," he said.
Gilad Rosenzweig from MIT highlighted the importance of this collaboration. "Our continued partnership with DIEZ through the DesignX Accelerator Programme at Dubai Silicon Oasis reflects MIT’s broader commitment to advancing innovation with global relevance," he noted.
Comprehensive Support System
The programme offers mentorship from MIT faculty and alumni, support from student interns, intensive workshops, and an interactive guide. This ensures startups can swiftly scale their innovations. A monetary prize will be awarded on pitch day to one team for their scalable solution.
Five additional teams will receive free business setups within DSO and access to the UAE market through DIEZ’s economic zones: Dubai Airport Freezone, DSO, and Dubai CommerCity. All teams will have 24/7 access to advanced workspaces at Dtec.
