Steering Committee Reviews Progress On Dubai Schools' New Al Khawaneej Project

The Dubai Schools Steering Committee, chaired by Abdulla Mohammed Al Basti, Secretary-General of The Executive Council of Dubai, reviewed the progress of the new "Dubai Schools" project in Al Khawaneej. This initiative was announced by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai.

Launched in line with the Dubai Social Agenda 33, the construction of the new branch in Al Khawaneej is part of a major expansion plan for the 'Dubai Schools' project. The plan also includes expanding the existing branch of 'Dubai Schools' in Al Barsha. The expansion aims to enhance the city's educational infrastructure and prepare future generations for a knowledge-driven economy.

Dubai Schools' Al Khawaneej Expansion Reviewed

During a field visit, Abdulla Mohammed Al Basti stated, "We are committed to completing the project in accordance with the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum." He expressed gratitude to Dubai Municipality and the Knowledge Fund Establishment for their contributions as key partners.

The Dubai Schools Steering Committee honoured the project's technical and administrative teams for achieving five million work hours while maintaining high health and safety standards. Approximately 2,000 workers are engaged across construction sites in Al Khawaneej and Al Barsha. The teams prioritised providing workers with the necessary knowledge and skills for safe and efficient performance.

Dawoud Al Hajri, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, said, "We are strongly committed to supporting projects that aim to enhance the city’s educational system and nurture students' capabilities." He emphasised implementing high standards of public and occupational health and safety across all sectors.

Collaborative Efforts

Ahmad Abdul Kareem Julfar, Chairman of the Board of the Knowledge Fund Establishment, highlighted the accomplishment of completing five million working hours with all necessary precautions taken. He noted that this achievement reflects successful collaborative efforts through continuous field monitoring.

Aisha Abdulla Miran, Director-General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai, along with other representatives from various organisations, participated in the field visit. They reviewed ongoing preparations to welcome students at the beginning of the new academic year 2024-2025.

Project Details

The "Dubai Schools" expansion project aims to increase capacity by more than 6,400 student seats. The new school in Al Khawaneej covers an area of 446,720 square feet and is designed to accommodate over 4,000 students from kindergarten to grade 12. This institution adheres to international standards.

The expansion project at 'Dubai Schools - Al Barsha' includes constructing additional buildings to provide more than 2,400 extra student seats. The project encompasses laboratories, specialised rooms equipped with advanced technologies, and sports facilities.

These developments signify a significant step towards enhancing Dubai's educational landscape, ensuring that future generations are well-equipped with knowledge and skills to contribute effectively to society.
