The 'Dubai Ruler’s Court Race' for top male cyclists is set to start on 19 January. This event is under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai. Organised by the Private Office of H.H. the Ruler of Dubai, it forms part of the 9th Al Salam Cycling Championship, known for its diversity and prize value.

The 193-kilometre race will begin at noon from the Ruler’s Court in Al Fahidi District. Cyclists will pass iconic sites like the Old Dubai Customs Building, Ministry of Defence, and Dubai Creek. The route also includes Al Seef Street, Creek Park, Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, and Dubai Frame. It concludes at Al Marmoom Conservation Reserve.

Dubai Ruler’s Court Race Starts January 19

His Excellency Omair bin Jumaa Al Falasi leads the Supreme Organising Committee for the championship. They have ensured all preparations meet high standards. Safety is a priority while showcasing Dubai's cultural heritage. The race highlights national landmarks, starting from H.H. the Ruler’s Court, a site crucial to Dubai's development.

In previous years, races began at significant locations such as Al Shindagha near Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum’s House. Other notable venues include Hatta and Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre. These choices reflect a commitment to incorporating historical sites into race routes.

Participants and Briefing

On 17 January, a briefing session was held with team managers to discuss race details and rules. The competition is exclusive to elite cyclists from the UAE and GCC countries. This ensures a high level of participation from top regional athletes.

The championship started in December with the ‘Sword of Honour’ Race for Emirati amateur cyclists. This event honoured H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's graduation from Sandhurst in the UK. He received prestigious awards for his achievements there.

Upcoming Events

The championship continues with the Desert Race on 9 February and Women’s Race on 16 February. These events are organised with partners like Dubai Police, Municipality, Roads and Transport Authority, Sports Council, Sports TV channel, UAE Cycling Federation (as General Referee), and Dubai Film.

This cycling event not only promotes sports but also celebrates significant achievements and landmarks in Dubai's history. It brings together athletes from across the region to compete in a challenging yet rewarding environment that highlights both athletic prowess and cultural heritage.
