Dubai RTA Achieves Five-Star Rating In Health And Safety Audit

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has earned a five-star rating from the British Safety Council. This accolade recognises RTA's adherence to occupational health and safety standards across various work environments, construction sites, and operational activities.

The five-star rating underscores RTA's commitment to optimising occupational health and safety. It aligns with the third objective of RTA's Strategic Plan 2023-2030, which aims to enhance mobility safety, provide a secure environment for the community, support transport integration, ensure safe and flexible transport, and strengthen business continuity in Dubai.

RTA Earns Top Safety Rating

Nada Jasim, Director of the Safety, Risk Regulations and Planning Department at RTA, stated that this rating is proof of RTA's dedication to excellence. "The rating was based on an assessment of 57 elements of occupational health and safety management at RTA, an audit of 5 separate best practice indicators, and inspection visits to 14 operational sites across RTA's agencies and sectors. This comprehensive evaluation resulted in a score of 96%, exceeding the minimum requirement of 92 percent to achieve the five-star rating," she added.

This achievement highlights RTA's pioneering status in implementing the latest occupational health and safety management practices. It demonstrates the effectiveness of strategies and initiatives aimed at continuously improving health and safety systems across all sites and operations.

RTA's achievement is part of its broader strategic goals. The third objective of its Strategic Plan 2023-2030 focuses on enhancing mobility safety, providing a secure environment for the community, supporting transport integration, ensuring safe transport options, and strengthening business continuity in Dubai.

In addition to this recent accolade, RTA also received a five-star rating from the British Safety Council for best practices in Occupational Health, Safety Management Systems, and Environmental Management Systems. This recognition exceeds the target set since their first submission in 2018.

The comprehensive evaluation included an assessment of 57 elements related to occupational health and safety management. An audit of five best practice indicators was conducted along with inspection visits to 14 operational sites within RTA’s agencies.

This five-star rating not only highlights RTA’s commitment but also showcases its success in maintaining high standards in health and safety management. The score achieved was 96%, surpassing the minimum requirement of 92% needed for this prestigious rating.
