Dubai's RTA Enhances City Commute With New Al Majasimi-Al Wasl Road Intersection
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has recently made significant strides in enhancing the city's road infrastructure with the inauguration of a new signalised junction at Al Majasimi intersection and Al Wasl Road. This development, nestled between Umm Suqeim Street and Al Thanya Street, is a testament to RTA's commitment to improving traffic flow and safety across the emirate.
The project included the installation of traffic signals and the widening of Al Majasimi Street from one to two lanes in each direction over a 200-metre stretch leading up to the intersection. These changes are designed to streamline traffic flow and facilitate easier vehicle movement from Umm Suqeim 3 leftward onto Al Wasl Road.

This initiative is part of the RTA's Quick Traffic Improvements Plan 2024, which aims at continuously upgrading the road network to ease traffic movement, increase road capacity, and enhance traffic safety standards throughout Dubai. The widening of Al Majasimi Street has effectively doubled its capacity, allowing for 2,400 vehicles per hour in each direction, compared to the previous 1,200 vehicles per hour.
The improvements at this junction have introduced a new traffic stream, enabling left turns from Al Majasimi Street onto Al Wasl Road. This adjustment has significantly reduced traffic density on the turns at the intersection with Umm Suqeim Street and has cut travel time from Umm Suqeim 3 northward to Al Wasl Road from three minutes to just 30 seconds.
Such enhancements not only facilitate smoother movement for residents and visitors to nearby shops but also support students commuting to schools in the area. The project underscores Dubai's dedication to improving living standards and maintaining its status as a premier city for residents and visitors alike.
