Dubai: New Regulations Announced For E-Scooter Use On Metro And Tram Services

As part of the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority's (RTA) dedication to improving the travel experience within the city, new regulations have been introduced for commuters who opt to use e-scooters in conjunction with Dubai Metro or Tram services.

Commuters are now required to collapse their e-scooters before boarding and ensure they are stored in specified locations on the transport. Riding e-scooters within station premises remains strictly prohibited.

The RTA mandates that only foldable e-scooters, devoid of seats, are permissible for travel on public transit. These e-scooters must not exceed dimensions of 120 cm in length, 70 cm in height, and 40 cm in width. Furthermore, their weight must fall below 20 kilograms. This measure is aimed at maintaining safety and order within transit stations and ensuring the convenience of all passengers.

This initiative by the RTA underscores its commitment to facilitating an efficient and user-friendly public transportation environment in Dubai. By setting clear guidelines on the use of e-scooters, the authority seeks to integrate this modern mode of transportation into the city's extensive public transit system seamlessly. This effort not only enhances the overall commuter experience but also promotes the use of environmentally friendly transportation alternatives.
